WHAT IS GENTRIFICATION?
Gentrification is the process of wealthier residents moving to an area that is already populated by lower-income residents. These changes occur due to the influx of wealth which often spark increases in rent and taxes, meaning previous residents can no longer afford to live in these areas. It is a profit-driven racial and class reconfiguration of urban, working-class, and communities of color.
